One more Valentine Card for my next couple of classes.

The card is laying on a white piece of paper (bad idea) on a yellow tablecloth.  The actual edges of the card are where the colored portions end, not the white background paper that the card is laying on.  Have I sufficiently confused you yet?

I'm teaching a Zentangle class on Saturday at The Dalles Art Center and needed a prototype to show the class the project we will be creating.  This is the card that I designed.  We will be making 2 different cards that day to take home and give to people you love.

BTW - It's not too late to get into the class.  1/28/2017 from 1 to 3:30.

Family Heirloom Recipe Journal

It took about four days to sort through boxes of old recipes that I had accumulated over the years and assemble them into the journal you see in the two photos below.  

Sometimes these projects take more than a day; but the pleasure I get from creating something that has so much meaning is priceless.  Over 75 pages of recipes and this and that which evoke memories and bring joy.

Scrappy's Quilt

Though I am in the middle of another project which seems to be taking several days, I paused to make this quilt for Scrappy.

Scrappy has a habit of laying on what I am working on; so, I thought: Why not make him his own little quilt, so he will leave my projects alone?

Oh, foolish woman!  He has ignored it completely.
But, it still gets entered into my challenge, because it is an art project--even if Scrappy doesn't care for it.

Zentangle designs on fabric, quilted and embellished with light glitter and miscellaneous semi-precious stones and assorted old jewelry.  (Thanks, Mama.)

Hidden Valley is #8/100 in my 100 Day Project.
It's a mixed media artwork embellished with 3 handmade tiles, and a couple of decorative stones on a field of unusual papers.  Peeking out from behind is a hidden valley between two mountains.

This piece was inspired by  a call for art inspired by literature by the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River.  The show isn't for several months; but I wanted to get my idea down before it left me.
It's approximately 16" X 16" and hangs with a dowel and rough brown twine.

6/100 in my 100 Day Challenge:  Mixed Media Collage Journal Cover

For this project I chose to make a cover for a journal, which will be an on-going project as I make and decorate the pages to fill it.  I used an old cardboard 3-ring binder and covered it with map paper, then assorted decorative paper, finally the words: DISCOVER JOURNALING across the front.

For the pages, I cut assorted colored and patterned cardstock to the size needed to fit the interior, and used a hole punch to prepare the pages to go into the journal.  (The cardstock pages are not shown here.)  My intention is to decorate and give a theme to each page.  The pages will be future projects to be completed sometime in the next 94 days of this challenge.

I'd be interested in hearing your comments on this or any of the projects I have posted, so far.  Or on the idea of an 100 Day Challenge in itself.  Or any problems you might have with this site.
